Love letter to our future intern

Hey you! We’re a Montreal and France based social enterprise looking for a dynamic intern to join our team and become our new Community Manager!

What we do? Who we are?

Basically, Imagination for People (I4P) is a free, open-source web platform that provides collaborative tools to social entrepreneurship projects and helps people and organizations connect online.

Our platform is based on 3 simple objectives:

  1. Unite social innovation projects (for profit or non-profit) all across the globe (we now track 1700+ projects in 75 countries, check out our Global Map too!)

  2. Connect the needs of each project (financial, material ...

Harnessing the power of internet to create something good

I've always been fascinated by the paradox of social platforms such as facebook. On the one side, it allows us to be better connected, on the other it does have the nasty tendency of pulling us apart rather than together. It's such a shame when it could be such a powerful force for just the opposite. But this tendency is starting to slow down, or so I think. The rise of great initiatives such as MOOCs (Massive Online Open Classrooms) shows just how great the potential to make meaningful connections and exchanges can arise from a social internet ...

The way we view business isn't viable anymore

Frank Escoubès, founder of Imagination for People wrote a recent article for Huffington Post France in which he argues for a change in the way we view business. Which got me thinking about the way we choose to approach business and strategy. So here's a questions for you: If you think about a succesful business, don't you tend to see it as one which has outsmarted its competition and is now the "leader" in its sector?

I know I did.

But is this really correct?

We have been taught to approach business in a completely erroneous way ...

Weekend Readings - Towards a New Capitalism?

Weekend Readings - Towards a New Capitalism?

Millenials (in North America) have a completely different life and work expectations than their parents do. They want to combine traditional capitalist values with a high sense of purpose. Their buying choices are also influenced by their perception of the ethical behviour of a company and by the desire to make responsible choices which will affect positively the people involved in all of the supply chain.

The front figure of this profound change in North America would be food giant Whole Foods. A Forbes/Ashoka article explores this "councious capitalism" through a Q&A session with Whole Foods CEO John ...

Weekend Readings - Failing as a Social Entrepreneur

We seldom want to talk about our failures, and yet, it is a crucial process. Every entrepreneur fails, including social entrepreneurs. Like a child who will fall before learning to walk and then run, it truely is by failing that we learn best. Failure in itself isn't a bad thing, as long as we take the time to look back on what happened and learn from it. Here are stories about failing, and about learning from one's mistake.

You know what Ashoka had to say about failure? Every Ashoka Fellow Experiences Failure - and that's ok To foster ...
