About the project Edit

Now that 105 public internet access points have been installed in the region of Brest, this project provides equipment and 14 video conferencing rooms to the urban districts to reduce commuting time and to enrich communication.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

Access to high quality video conferencing is usually reserved for big companies, educational establishments and some public services. Provided the facilities are used at least once a week, the cost of renting a video conferencing space pays for itself in one to two years in terms of time, energy and CO2 emissions saved.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

- Democratizing the use of video conferencing
- Creating new opportunities to benefit from the experience of others, work collaboratively even with people who may be geographically distant
- Reducing pollution by eliminating need for commuting
- Encouraging networking and communication with others

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

The project also has a regional outreach, which already supports exchanges in a region with a population of 3.5 million. We hope that other communities will follow in this direction by developing this initiative to save time, energy, and the environment. Public actors are called upon to invest in infrastructures; here, a direct and practical investment is necessary.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

This volunteer initiative is associated with the region of Brittany. This project provides 200 local associations with access to video conferencing facilities and creates a connection between districts, communes and regions.

What is the business model of this project? Edit
