About the project Edit

Born from a partnership between HEC Montreal’s students and graduates, this project strives to discover how leaders innovate in their organizations and sectors – key factors for success, but also the challenges encountered during implementation of sustainable development in order to inspire the managers of tomorrow through video.

In a very tangible way, the Value Creators project consists of making ten video interviews with as many prominent Quebec personalities who have outstanding realizations in sustainable development. These video documents can serve as educational material in various courses at the university. As well, the segments are currently online with the aim of creating awareness for future Quebecois leaders and the population in general. Each of the personalities chosen is a true model for future generations and they express their vision of sustainable development.

The theme of the 2013 third edition of Creators of Values is water. The fifteen students who organized this edition are very enthusiastic and are committed to developing awareness for sustainable development in the business world.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

This project is an initiative of HEC Montreal’s students in the Diploma of Higher Specialized Studies (DESS) in sustainable development and management. They wanted to provide tools to better understand the link between the business world and sustainable development. In short, this project enables the dissemination of a critical knowledge to build the world of tomorrow.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

This project’s mission is to present Quebecois leaders in sustainable development and promote best sustainable practices in the business world. In order to communicate the ways of being responsible and innovative, the medium for the Value Creators team are the video segments that are broadcast online and that serve as educational material at the HEC in Montreal.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

Our segments are available online and in courses at the HEC Montreal. In addition to being disseminated as educational material, the Value Creators team promote them on various web platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube).

Since its launch, various organizations such as the National Film Board (NFB), Parole citoyenne and the Alternative Channel, have showcased our project.

We believe and hope that the project’s notoriety will only increase with time since it questions the social issues that affect us all.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

Originally, it was the initiative of Flavien Taquet and Philippe Lanthier, two students in DESS Sustainable Development and Management at the HEC Montreal.

They gathered about thirty student volunteers from all levels for the first edition and made sure to pass the torch year after year to new student cohorts.

The help and support of Professor Emmanuel Raufflet of HEC Montréal must also be noted.
