The Silver Brush is a social enterprise that offers reliable and competitive interior painting services to commercial and residential properties. It has been successfully employing men and women from various backgrounds and economic circumstances.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

The Silver Brush employs people that risk homelessness or suffered from mental health issues, while using the greenest painting products.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

The SilverBrush was founded to create real employment opportunities for psychiatric survivors and others who are at risk of homelessness in Toronto.

This social enteprise helps to develop new job skills that increase future employment and economic opportunities to those who face barriers to employment.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

In May of 2010, Parkdale Activity Recreation Centre and Houselink Community Homes were granted funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation and The United Way’s Toronto Enterprise Fund. The goal of this funding was to create a social enterprise with the same objectives and values as The Silver Brush. That is how the project started.
