About the project Edit

Founded in 1996, the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) is an internationally renown, non-profit organization active in the development of immersive technologies, augmented reality and creative use of high-speed networks. With the dual mission as a hub for artists and research centre, the SAT was created to support a new generation of creators and researchers in the digital age.

Located on St-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal at the south side of the Quartier des spectacles, the SAT has become an essential meeting place, as well as a place of possibilities where positive influence rely on the artistic, scientific and technological sectors, thereby making the SAT a partner in innovation where three significant economic pillars meet.

As an engine and window for trends for art and design in computer science, the SAT is important factor in social and economic scope. By bringing together research, training, creation and dissemination under one roof, this organizational model made the SAT the first North American member of the Open Living Labs (ENoLL) network, a European initiative that includes more than 200 research and innovation centres around the world.
