About the project Edit

Lifehack Labs is a 5 week design-led bootcamp to kickstart impact projects.

This is a platform to design, test and prototype digital tools to improve youth wellbeing.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

Labs creates a space for young people to lead the change they want to see in the world, by creating a pathway for them to learn the DNA of 21st century changemakers: design thinking, tech entrepreneurship, social innovation & wellbeing.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

The Lab creates a fast track for young social innovators to upskill, get connected to the social enterprise ecosystem, bridge to relationships and resources which will help them succeed.

The projects and prototypes created in the Lab will all be aimed at high impact ways to improve wellbeing for young New Zealanders and other people around the world.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

The pilot year of Labs is a collaboration between Ministry for Social Development and Enspiral. There is great scope to share the process with the world through documenting, training and scaling up the operations to tackle other complex social and environmental problems.

Lifehack is looking to establish a social enterprise model to underpin the venture long term.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

New Zealand has one of the highest youth suicide rates of developed nations. It also consistently only shows around 26% of the population as 'flourishing'.

Lifehack was set up as a collaboration as part of the Prime Minister's Youth Mental Health Initiative.

What is the business model of this project? Edit

The business model in the first 2 years is "social innovation as a service" in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development. Lifehack is exploring what other models will be able to propel the venture forward and let it grow sustainably.
