About the project Edit

VILLART, a multidisciplinary association of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, proposes, as part of an alternative cultural and participatory development, to support the creation of a welcoming and cultural place in Boulogne at sea. In partnership with public and private organizations in the area, an abandoned house downtown will be invested in. Then it will be turned into a unique guesthouse that welcomes tourists, artists and other visitors in order to liven up the city life.

Themes

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

VILLART questions intercultural communication through artistic citizen exercises. It contributes to stakeholders from different backgrounds (geographical, age, specialty, areas of activity, etc.) meeting each other to participate in creating unique urban works. VillArt is therefore an organization for developing participatory art.
LA THELEMA is a private initiative that goes beyond the social bond developed in the public structures.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

LA THELEMA encourages organizing meetings and all kinds of workshops throughout the city. It is linked to educational and rehabilitation institutions, professional buildings, artists, those that are curious and just simply residents.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

This project is an indicator of what urban renovation is capable of creating, questioning and how it can surprise residents. The number of cultural centres in the area could increase extensively and become an alternative to the cultural and social masses.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

What is the business model of this project? Edit
