About the project Edit

Based on an initiative created by Dr. Jay Parkinson who initiated a principle of online medical coaching in 2007, Hello Health is a medical monitoring Web service inspired by social networks in the Facebook era.

Funded by the Canadian firm Myca, a practice located in Brooklyn has been testing this new method since 2008.

Using tools like email, chat and videoconferencing, the Hello Health software allows for an ongoing relationship between patient and doctor. Patients can rank their doctors, see their education and training, the diseases that they study and even their taste in movies.

The service is free of charge for clinics who can remunerate themselves with the revenues generated by the patient registration system.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

Free of charge for clinics, Hello Health is a medical monitoring service that allows ongoing followups with patients. This type of service is not meant to replace traditional visits to the clinic, but is a complement to those visits.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

The tool can help to reinforce the doctor-patient relationship. Patients can have a virtual ongoing relationship with their healthcare clinic.
