About the project Edit

Gradberry is the first web portal of the Middle East that helps students and graduates find jobs and internships.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

What makes the site unique is that it mainly lists internship openings and entry-level positions for people who have little or no work history. This practice differs from other sites that offer these services for people who have a lot of experience.

Also, the founders are encouraging employers to take on interns in meaningful posts. They also plan on working with the Government to introduce an internship visa that will allow students to work in the Middle East.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

A platform like Gradberry plays an important role in reducing youth unemployment. It makes it easier for graduates to connect with potential employers, as it makes it easier for employers to hire recent graduates with a fresh mind that have all the right skills. Gradberry helps these two worlds to better communicate with each other.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

More than 100 employers, including Google, have used the site to find prospective workers.
Students from 550 universities worldwide have made use of Gradberry.
User numbers have increased to almost 500,000 from 2,000 in 2011.

Gradberry could easily work in a parallel and complementary way to the university's careers office.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

The causes that led to the Arab Spring motivated the co-founder of Gradberry.
According to the International Labour Organisation's Global Employment Trends 2012 report, more than one in every four young people in the Middle East is unemployed.

What is the business model of this project? Edit
