About the project Edit

One of things that makes French individualism representative is its garbage line on our city streets in the morning. The collection trucks make stops every 10 meters and consume a lot of fuel, not to mention the noisiness from accelerating and braking. In addition, all of this happens in my city at 6am.
However, nothing has been done to improve the situation.
How about instead of having each person leave their trash bin outside their door, they do so in an area designated for collecting garbage within 50 meters of their home. This would be like a parking space designated for collecting garbage bins. And as a result, the bins would no longer be on the sidewalks blocking the way for strollers and the elderly.
In other words, citizens make the effort to go out and take out their trash every day (even if they have to walk a little) and in return, there would be less noise and pollution on the streets. In addition, pedestrians could take full advantage of sidewalks making it less likely for them to be involved in an accident.

Themes

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

This project was turned down by the current collection company under the pretext "that the French are not ready to make that effort." Yet, this is an eco-citizenship initiative. This could provide more security and comfort for collectors and in turn, create less noise for residents.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

People could help each other out with taking and returning garbage collection bins at standard times.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

This initiative would be very easy to implement since no large investment is required. All it takes is to designate a few streets areas for garbage bin collection and encourage residents to take out their trash.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

In the morning, in addition to the dog poop on sidewalks, people weave their way between bins and sometimes put themselves in danger by walking down the road.

What is the business model of this project? Edit

Residents make the effort of pulling their trash bin for ten or so meters (eco-citizen act).
The city saves fuel (less pollution). The trucks are less present (less truck maintenance) and staff are less stressed (they take the time to properly store the bins at collection areas.
