About the project Edit

FuturLab is a project developed by Design The Future Now over two years (2011-2012). It offers a stage for new imaginative citizens and the opportunity to reflect on new ways of designing/distributing/producing goods and services, in terms of social innovation. Futurlab can plan for the future by learning how to participate and to be better prepared to anticipate. This project makes it easier for future proposals to emerge, by recognizing the value of diversity, exchange and involvement, as the driving force behind innovation.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

This project stimulates the innovation process because it allows ideas to emerge, to be put into practice and to be tested in the field through streelab.

Over the course of the project, which will last two years, the method used will be documented and sustained on a regular basis, thus promoting acculturation of various actors in the PACA region (region in southern France), to the principles and conditions of open innovation.

The four exploratory tracks selected will aim, in particular, to carry out a micro-phase experiment, offering concrete illustrations of proposed changes for a more desirable, harmonious and collaborative future with the help of contributors.

Publishing 4 items illustrated via the contributions of a service designer, will complete the items published on a regular basis.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

The examination and translation of items in the form of simple proposals are prototyped and tested.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

It is a tool for dialogue and empowerment, designed to bring together various actors on the same issues, where emphasis is placed on urbanites, inhabitants, and recipients of services.

The success of the project relies on the involvement and networking of a large variety of actors (competitiveness cluster, ERIC, territories, associations, neighbourhood committees, residents, star-up's, artists, communities...) and soliciting new contacts and representatives from new communities on an ongoing basis.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

What is the business model of this project? Edit
