About the project Edit

Lille’s Plaine Images is an economic pole of excellence dedicated to images. On a 5-hectar rehabilitated industrial site, Plaine Images offers a cluster entirely devoted to images and creative industries: video game, animation, audio-visual, computer animation, 3D, tactile and gesture interaction, serious game, etc.

Within this pole, a building—the Imaginarium—is home to a coworking space mainly (but not exclusively) for students, freelancers, and nomadic workers in the image industry. Located at the heart of the building, the coworking space is accessible free of charge from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. This space also offers all-you-can drink coffee, wifi, an inspiring environment—everything you need to stimulate collaboration and creativity is available under one roof!

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

A unique building—the Imaginarium—in the heart of Plaine Images cluster unites artists, researchers, business people, and the general public. It is a space that welcomes businesses (enterprise hotel, hive), project leaders (incubator), artists (workshop and exposition space) and the public (cafeteria, coworking space, fablab).

What is the social value of this project? Edit

Covering 8000 m2, the Imaginarium is a concrete demonstration of the convergence principle. Businesses, artists, training structures, research teams cohabitate and collaborate in a veritable creative village. A network to develop relationships that foster creativity and new ideas. Creative industries, researchers and artists all share the same goal of innovation and experimentation. The Plaine Images Coworking Space facilitates the development of a community of talented of people from all backgrounds who gather in one place to create, exchange, ideas, collaborate, innovate, etc.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

We hope to create links with other coworking spaces in the Lille metropolis and other European and French centres of creative industry.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

The desire to make this space accessible to the greatest and most diverse groups of people possible. Our philosophy being that the more “collisions” or interactions of all kinds, the greater the potential for creativity.

What is the business model of this project? Edit
