About the project Edit

The Artvscope project is an interactive telescope - called "ARTVscope" - placed outside sold out venues.

The user can point the telescope at the building of their choice (where there is a show being held) in order to view it live for free from the outside.

Inside of the "telescope" the device consists of a computer and the cameras inside the venues allow the viewer to see the stage, zoom in on the artists and performances, as well as change the angle and direction of the telescope, etc. This view allows you to see and listen the show from the outside, from the best place, and to be in complete control of its viewing.

Themes

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

The ARTVscope project was developed by the Quebec agency Amuse (agency that creates events "helping brands and institutions contribute significantly to people's lives"), in collaboration with the Montreal agency réalisations.net (agency for architectural design, scenography and staging) and the Quebec cultural ARTV television channel.

The project won the 2010 Other Digital Media award (offline media category) at the Digital Marketing Awards in Toronto.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

The viewing devise allows those, who cannot afford tickets, to experience the show first hand with audio for free at a festival or concert.

According to the Amuse site, in June of 2010, ARTVscope was present at six art and music festivals, filmed over 250 shows and has offered a unique interactive experience to more than 30,000 people.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

The e Artvscope project was developed in Montreal, it accommodates approximately 20 music and art festivals in the summer. Although most of the outdoor shows are free, the best performances are held, most of the time, indoors and the tickets are often sold out months in advance. This device could be implemented in many other places where festivals are held, when the right technology skills and events are in place. Working with a local cultural channel can prove to be a trigger, just like the Artv channel has been.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit
