About the project Edit

Making the community garden available to the population

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

By making the community garden available to the population, the Agro-Ecological Perimeter project of Dialongo wants to be involved in creating sustainable agriculture that relies on an integrated system of production that creates an alliance between people, the environment and technology that respects the major agro-ecological trends.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

In addition, this innovation has proven itself and vegetable producers in the northern regions of Mali have adopted them thanks to Pierre RABHI , one of the most well-known voices in this technique and some technical and financial partners: TERRE HUMANISME – France in Gao; AUTRE-TERRE – Belgium in Gao and in Tessalit, the CCFD-TERRE SOLIDAIRE-France in Kidal and Tessalit; and the Centre Agro écologique de Production de Semence Tropicale (CAPROSET) that disseminates it, application requests that are growing across the two regions.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

1. Reinforcing technical producers’ capabilities
2. Training producers in microgardening techniques
3. Training producers in reproducible sowing production techniques that stem from agro-ecology
4. Training producers in Integration Production and Pest Management (IPPM) techniques through field schools
5. Training producers in plant foraging, forestry and fruit tree techniques

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

This innovation has proven itself and vegetable producers in the northern regions of Mali adopted them thanks to Pierre RABHI , one of the most well-known voices in this technic and some technical and financial partners: TERRE HUMANISME – France in Gao; AUTRE-TERRE – Belgium in Gao and in Tessalit, the CCFD-TERRE SOLIDAIRE-France in Kidal and Tessalit; and the Centre Agro écologique de Production de Semence Tropicale (CAPROSET) that disseminates it.

What is the business model of this project? Edit

- Community garden vegetable producers are aware of this innovation and have appropriated it
- Producers are trained in Integrated Production and Pest Management and field schools (learning spaces for vegetable producers) have been put in place along the perimeter
- New monetary revenues of plant producers have increased by the sale of plants
